V.A. Powerpearls (1979-1982) Volume Nine

(Big thanks to Bristol Boy from My Life's a Jigsaw for the scans!)

Next-to-final set of mod-punk-power-pop-new-wave ravers (a few more common ones this time) that while UK-biased (yay!) don't stint on room for other European nations or The U.S.

(I got a fever and the only cure is...)

* Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, Hey (Hot Press & The Silent Knights, Ireland, 1979, from 1.7")
* Leave Me Alone (Wasteland, UK, 1980, from 2.7")
* Another Girl, Another Planet (Only Ones, UK, from 2.7")
* Goodbye Suicide (Hollywood Killers, UK, 1978, from 2.7")
* Girl Of My Dreams (Bram Tchaikovsky, UK, 1979)
* Kapungin Tytto (Lola Ego, Finland, 1980, from only 7")
* Die Trying (New Math, USA, 1979, from 1.7")
* Personality Changes (Living Daylights, UK, 1979, from only 7")
* Starry Eyes (Records, UK, 1979, from 1.7")
* Lunatics, Losers & Liars (Chris Moffa & The Competition, USA, 1981, from only 7")
* Dilyn Y Sebon (Ail Symudiad, UK, 1982, from 5th or 6th 7")
* Estas Consado? (Sprays, Spain, 1982, from only 7")
* Plain Jane (New Hearts, UK, 1978, from 2.7")
* In My Mind (G Squad, 1981, from only 7")
* Now (Plimsouls, USA, 1981, from 2.7")
* Swarje (Tant Brun, Sweden, 1981, from only 7")
* Saturday Night Fever (Kidda Band, UK, 1979, from 2.7")
* I'll Be True (Heartbeats, UK, 1981, from 2.7")

Volume Nine link is in the comments.

Speaking of comments a word or two from readers about these nifty offering would be a darling way to finish off this bounty.

P.S. Anyone with accesses to decent scans (front and/or back) of any of the entries in the series would be a hero for sending them to me

    Thanks for the info, sorry about having to make a cover for # 10 - it was the only way to go!

    Enjoy!

    You're right it never does but it seems strange with all the obscurities here that they would add a song that has been easy to find for such a long time.

  7. Love it. That's the Plimsouls doing their best Blondie impersonation. And it's a damn good one!

  8. @Mr. Suave: I hope you're joking, since Blondie impersonated Peter Case first.

  9. Loving the Power Pearls. Old favorites, but a lot of "new" ones, including some really outstanding ones.

    It's hard to explain to the kids of today the impact that the "new wave" had.
