As you wrote, it's like a movie, and in the style of some great narrative structures it links up the past with the present and the seeming failure to get at root causes of problems.

Well, that's way too intellectual. Let's just say he kicks ass.

Acebglobe313https://www.blogger.com/profile/00308428545934319473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4191686244361274747.post-49738800411448943722012-08-07T14:23:10.446-05:002012-08-07T14:23:10.446-05:00Another great narrative song from SE is "Tom ...Another great narrative song from SE is "Tom Ames' Prayer," a solid short story of a ballad that never fails to catch the ear. He ties running moonshine in with planting 'the seeds from Columbia and Mexico', and all the baggage of politics and rebellion comes right with it. Masterful.
A good narrative song can be like watching a movie, and Steve Earle is a great craftsman of narrative songs. Check out 'Tom Ames' Prayer' and 'The Devil's Right Hand'. And also 'Me And The Eagle' and 'Ellis Unit One', both of which were written for movies.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00441069762109256813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4191686244361274747.post-62102845220780638082012-08-06T19:19:27.915-05:002012-08-06T19:19:27.915-05:00Oh, and how could I forget, very good on The Wire ...Oh, and how could I forget, very good on The Wire (but then again, what actor WASN'T on that show?).

Ace K.bglobe313https://www.blogger.com/profile/00308428545934319473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4191686244361274747.post-64966101999388021742012-08-06T19:14:45.773-05:002012-08-06T19:14:45.773-05:00great stuff, thanksgreat stuff, thanksAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4191686244361274747.post-38366744400331264242012-08-06T19:01:27.054-05:002012-08-06T19:01:27.054-05:00Transcendental Blues was his masterpiece in my hum...Transcendental Blues was his masterpiece in my humble opinion--a truly great album, with the always able Will Rigby on drums for most of it.
