Puppy Love Bomb: Not Listening (1994)

Psst, wanna hear a FANTASTIC nineties power-pop tune? If so check out Dublin's unfortunately-named Puppy Love Bomb and their ultra-hummable, "Not Listening:

(A measly 437 views! CRIMINAL!)

Puppy Love Bomb, Marc Carroll [Vocals & Guitar] Neil Dowling [Drums & Percussion] and Alan Cullivan [Bass Guitar] put out out three singles on Rough Trade and opened for Mega City Four in Ireland (and probably would've loved to do the same for Teenage Fanclub) but never got any traction even in the guitar-happy nineties. The good news is Marc Carrol's next band The Hormones got him a little farther along the success road and his solo work has met with on-going success which is no mean feat these days.

Hey, MRML readers your view on the fairness of the obscurity of PLB and the merits of "Not Listening" are hereby requested in the COMMENTS section (where you'll find the "Not Listening" link).

  2. Wow...I'm a big Hormones and Marc Carroll fan (I have the Japanese 2-CD version of Where Old Ghosts Meet!) and I've never heard any of the PLB tracks. Do you have the Bobby Milk EP and the Too Busy Thinking 7''???

I'd love to hear them too...

    1. "shining a light on the shadowy recesses of music" is a pretty mission statement for MRML.

    1. I originally started this post slagging Canadian 9o's alt-rock band names (incl. RBM) but found it interfered with the greatness.

  9. I am friends with the bass player from the hormones and would be great to hear some more of his stuff. Shame they didn't do as well as they hoped but they certainly gave it a shot. I mean how many bands can claim to have been present when Ross said Rachel?
