Looks like HR pulled a Sly Stone ! Hands down Iconic great band agreed ? So to judge this clip is unfair with out seeing more, they didn't look sweaty so I'm guessing this was the first and second songs of the set, yeah they are older but HR is still in good shape (Iggy's got at least 15 years on him) So I think they especially HR in the wig look and sound great. Looking forward to reading a review of the entire gig.
Love the Brains! I found the contrast fascinating and not in 'what have they become' kinda way either. The fact that HR has changed so drastically (while the others have aged well, though more conventionally) was also intriguing.
Members of the Fearless Vampire Killers know that the Right Brigade and Attitude has nothing to do with dress sense, but How Low Can A Punk Get?
Does H.R. need The Regulator, or is the bands Supertouch/Shitfit still so tight that they Don't Need It to continue the Big Takeover and keep Sailin' On?
In any event, the aging Madonna-look should be Banned In D.C. *and* Tennessee.
You can't touch the Brains - great performers, outstanding energy and hilarious band name. But i still remember a MRR cover from the mid-80's which had the Stones, Eagles and Yes on it with the tagline "DINOSAURS" on it. Now looking at all the bands that just refuse to die -- who's the dinosaur now?
I always felt like Bad Brains got too much credit for a band that had about an album-and-a-half's worth of good songs. I mean, they are REALLY good songs, but their ratio of good songs to shit songs (and/or different versions of the same old songs released again and again and again) is pretty unbalanced. Feel free to tell me how wrong I am.

True - but they've sure dinosaur'ed in their own peculiar way.
DeleteLooks like he is putting in about 20% effort on the HC vocals than a decade ago which is a goodthing.
ReplyDeleteYeah, a friend who saw 'Soul Brains' a few years ago couldn't believe how near comatose HR was.
DeleteCaught them in NYC a couple back. They were awful - just fcking awful. Then again I was spoiled seeing them at A7 in their prime.
ReplyDeleteGreat band and certainly iconic, but I wouldn't bother seeing them now.

ReplyDeleteNot sure I'd pay to see this version of the band either but there is something fascinating about the whole affair.
