Ramones: The Steel Reserves Sessions

Sure you knew the Ramones (more HERE) licensed "Blitzkrieg Bop" to Budweiser but did you know they wrote and recorded a trio of tracks for the Steel Reserves Brewing Company back in 1994? Well, the weird thing is not only did they do that but that the songs are gallons of fun, much more so then a lot of the CJ era. Since I've never even heard of Steel Reserves beer, I'm able to enjoy these without bitter sell-out after-taste





While I have no song-writing credits on these songs, "Gimme My Steel Reserve" bears more than a passing resemblance to Dee Dee's "All is Quiet on the Eastern Front" from 1981's Pleasant Dreams.

    sometimes flogging a product can lead to perverse classics . . . the who, for instance, selling great shakes instant shake mix or cream for falstaff beer . . .

    There was certianly enough beer (Steel Reserve and otherwise) spilled in the name of Ramones music, so why not? I gotta hear this!--Bill

    awesome post, thanks! i have on cassette somewhere a really goofy jingle demo called "Lemon Go Lightly" by power pop band The Raspberries, circa 1970 or so, for a Clairol hair product, that while a novelty, is really........crummy!!! jim

    Really good songs for a really bad beer. Tastes like a skunk pissed in warm vomit. It's ironic since Johnny was very picky about the beer served backstage.

    This gets my vote for rarest Ramones post so far ! I love it, 1st song w/the hand claps 5 star last song 4 star... Unless your sitttin' on some supper rare stuff this seems like a good one to end it on before it gets stale. BTW If anyones interested in the video of Joeys last show @ the Continental 12/11/2000 I could post it, its 3.5GB Video_TS and better quality than the small versions floating around.
