German punk band Rock N' Roll Stormtroopers started out as a perfect Dickies-Ramones hybrid and then pretty quickly devolved into a rock parody of some sort or another. Oh well, debuts are funny things...
Interestingly enough this fun, raucous EP, which I am re-upping to follow my Germanic punk series, is one of the LEAST popular posts I ever did - I mean how do you beat ZERO comments!?!
Can you folks can improve upon that low reader turnout this time?

Haha, great band! I toured Europe with MOTO in 2004 and we played a show somewhere in Germany with the Rock N Roll Stormtroopers. Really cool, funny guys. Hanging out before the show they were all dressed like cool rockers; leather jackets, studded belts, black jeans, etc. Then before their set they said "we must put on our stage wear," and we were all "huh, OK," wondering what that could mean. They then took the stage dressed in nothing but denim vests and TINY cut-off denim shorts. It was hilarious and awesome. That's the look they've fully embraced on the cover of their LP.
ReplyDeleteTheir live set was a lot of fun, and the tunes had a definite 70's glam-rock influence. Particularly their fantastic second single, "Hanging Out With The Boys."
I thought their debut album, "On Fire," was a bit overproduced and too slick. That's especially evident on the new recordings of songs from the two singles. I definitely recommend tracking down the singles, fun stuff.

Oh, I don't know about a bigger story. I played bass with MOTO from 2003-2008. Toured Europe twice and the states a bunch, blah blah blah. Fun times.

ReplyDeleteTheir live sets have always been fun--they usually put their drumkit on fire and the notoriously short denim jeans were balls-out in the most literate sense. Fun!
