The Epic years of The Stranglers (more here) represent a not-so-gradual subsuming of all the musical elements that made the band wholly original. The music is still fine by eighties standards but it's really not The Stranglers as we knew them.
This long out-of-print collection ($129.00 on Amazon!) collects up the extended versions of their eighties hits.
Comments on the Epic years (1983-1990) and their place in Stranglers' history are invited!
Speaking of comments, that is the section wherein you will find All Twelve Inches link.

One stunning Strangler post after another... Cheers!
ReplyDeleteCheers. Love No Mercy....one of my fave 80's tunes.
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen this before.
Shall be fun to hear.
Thanks
Best wishes from Sweden
nice one jeffen
ReplyDeleteNice one - had some of these on 12" back in the day. As far as music in the 80s went, these were pretty good! Ta for the post!
ReplyDeleteI like the eighties output almost as much as the seventies. The song "Always The Sun" is one of my favorite songs of all time and look forward to hearing the "Hot Mix" of it. The version on the original album always sounded flat compared to how I heard it on the radio. Thanks for saving me 120 smackers!
ReplyDeleteWoW!
ReplyDeleteANOTHER "gotta listen"!
Oh the time, The time..
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for this one, Jeffen.
ReplyDeleteFor me not their best period, though it didn't stop me going to see them regularly throughout the eighties, and very enjoyable they were too.
Ah, great wondrousness indeed. So many thanks jeffen xxx
ReplyDeletethanks! very cool.
ReplyDeletein the grand scheme of things...and...for a band with such a rich history...The Stranglers have always been second tier here in the USA...with the exception of the 80's!That said, the 70's forged a legend...the 80's sold out for sales...the 90's? the 00's? the 10's? the bottom line is this...THEY ARE STILL GOING STRONG and people still write about them...so, commercial sides of the 80's aside...until Jet and JJ pass away...they will always have a "stranglehold" on my stereo!!!
