(The) Buzcocks: Lest We Forget

Okay, so there's no shortage of Buzzcocks live albums (I lost track years ago) but it's still strange that this compilation of material from their North American tour of 1979/1980 recorded and curated by Joan McNulty (then Pete Shelly's girlfriend) has fallen out-of-print as it's an early and crucial document of the band's furious live work.

  2. Hi Jeffen

I have seen the Buzzcocks many times. In the UK,USA and of course The Commodore Ballroom(Vancouver,BC).And I have the music in many forms(vinyl, original CDs,rm double CDs etc).

I also saw Pete Shelley do his Homosapien thing at the ULU.Actually a terrific show.

Once when my brother and I were in London we were walking down Oxford St around noon.Probably either going to or coming from the HMV Megastore or the Virgin Megastore. In the short distance I could see a short guy approching us.He was wearing a black leather jacket and looking like he had been on a very long bender.Yes, it was Pete Shelley. In his state I thought it was best not to say anything. We pasted silently!

    Cheers

  3. Saw them in Albany NY, about 5 (?) years ago in a small club (Valentine's). They gave an amazing show to a very enthusiastic and young crowd. Pete seemed rather bemused by the rapturous reception they got

  4. Many moons ago when I first heard the Buzzcocks I ran out to get anything by them I could find. This was the first thing I ever bought by the Buzzcocks. I've not heard it in years and have been trying to find a copy for a long time. THANK YOU!

  6. I saw them about 4-5 years ago in a smallish venue in Houston, TX. Unfortunately, I had to leave about halfway through the show to my friend to the Emergency Room... :(

Please replace 'approching' with 'approaching' and 'silently pasted' with 'silently passed' in my above comment.Maybe all the loud music has gone to my wee brain.

    Cheers

I saw them at the Commodore in '91 with The Vandals - killer show. When did you see them there?
That Pete Shelly vingette is priceless (and don't worry I made all those edits in my head as I read).

It's good that they've not grown indifferent to their modest-yet-devoted audience.

It's so odd that it's fallen out of print, when for awhile it was one of the easier Buzzcocks things to find - glad to have hooked you back up!

Leaving halfway through Buzzcocks set to go to the emergency room - that sounds like a blog post right there!

Cool - we were at the same show! It was a great show - I loved the way the Buzzcocks played everything from 'Boredom' to songs off their then-new album. Though I did hear that they kicked the Vandals off the tour for selling more merchandise than them.

(I'm guessing Vernon took the game?)
