V.A. Back to Front (1977-1983) Volume Six

When  Incongito Records began this limited-edition series back in 1993, they made an honest attempt to contact as many of these late seventies/early eighties bands as they could to secure rights. That attention to detail  gave this series a reputation as one of the best in the torrent of punk retrospectives that the nineties unleashed.  Compiler Peter Parzinger tilted this series towards wilder, cruder punk rock from all over the Western world with bands like Condom, The  Rebels, and Brulbajz  but still allowing some slightly more pop-ish stuff like Nekron 99, The Zorros, Drug Squad, Pelle Miljoona and, the comparably world-famous, Celibate Rifles.

(Incognito INC. 076, Germany, 1995)

When Incognito Records began this limited-edition series back in 1993, they made an honest attempt to contact as many of these late seventies/early eighties bands as they could to secure rights, giving this series claim to being one of best in the torrent of punk retrospectives that the nineties unleashed. While  compiler Peter Parzinger still tilts this series towards wilder, cruder punk rock from all over the Western world with bands like Seize, Schoolgirl Bitch and Friction, the third time around also includes some more charming, more catchy bands like The Rivals, God's Heart Attack, First Steps and tennis-punks, The Rude Kids.

V.A. Back to Front (1977-1983) Volume Two

Yeah I pulled the last B2F volume due to lack of comments, then relented in the face of strong, positive feedback. Perhaps my pissy mood came from outside forces, perhaps it resulted from spending a valuable hour that morning setting up the whole series to no avail. It's all irrelevant now, as I'm happy as hell to re-commence the series and looking forward to hearing what you have to say about all this obscurica!

On Volume two, compiler Peter Parzinger still has a lot of wilder, cruder punk rock from all over the Western world with bands like Fresh Color, Scrotum Poles and Chainsaw but we also get some catchier, hookier punkishness like Incredible Kidda Band, Sudden Fun, Groove, The Newtown Neurotics and, of course, The Cigarettes who seem to appeal to almost all every faction of late seventies obscurity-fanatics. (Plus we get a visit from Canada's the Demics!)

(Wrong IKB song but one of my fave obscurities of the entire era!)

V.A. Back to Front (1977-1983) Volume One RE-UP

~
I originally pulled this post when it received two comments for 43 downloads. I can't apologize, since it's an almost  reasonable response to a totally unreasonable situation. After all, a good post is worth a good word in return, here or anywhere else. I certainly appreciate when people just stop long enough to say a quick 'thanks (or 'danka' or 'gracias') but it's those moments when people actually communicate their own ideas about the music that's been posted, those moments bring a huge fuckin' grin to my face.

So, regular commenters - Nazz, Big Scott, Brushback, ViaCom..., Doug, Revolutionary Bum, Nick, Longy, Snatzo, CallPastorJerkface, LemonFlag, Woodworker, Sock Monkey, Barrie B, Biopunk, Johnny Hank, Rinjo Njori!, JBull49, Roy Pearl, Justin Crash, Chris Y., DaveGeek, Sociologian, Dave Sez, Roberto, KennyHell77* (and that's just a review of the last week or so - there's MANY more regulars who rock!) and anyone else who actually give a shit about human communication - this one's for you!
*P.S. Looking at that lengthy, and admittedly incomplete, list of regulars make me realize that this blog has it pretty good. That doesn't mean I won't say something if the comments grow really sparse but maybe I'll try to say it just a little better next time!

That attention to detail  gave this series a reputation as one of the best in the torrent of punk retrospectives that the nineties unleashed.  Compiler Peter Parzinger tilted this series towards wilder, cruder punk rock from all over the Western world with bands like K9's, The Chosen Few and Mittageisen. Thankfully, he also lets the series ratchet down the aggro for the fun "Eddie's New Shoes" by Blitz Boys, The Letters light but catchy-as-hell, "Don't Want You Back" as well as the Nasty Facts' power-pop number, "Drive My Car".
