While the adjective Beatlesesque might be shorthand for "labouring to replicate a lost era", in the case of L.A. power-pop band The Young Veins* the word just denotes what happens when twenty-somethings take up with their parents vinyl collection.
* May contain traces of Panic! at the Disco
Jeez, I had no idea 2010 had so much pro-CPJ going for it.
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that I love new bands that sound like old bands?

ReplyDeleteBy which I mean the word "too".
ReplyDeleteThese guys are pretty good. There are members of Panic At the Disco in the group, but thankfully they sound nothing like them. lol
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine pointed me in their direction a while ago. A few good cuts on their album.

ReplyDeleteI almost deleted the post when i learned that. It's not that I particularly dislike PATD, I just needed to make sure this wasn't some hass-affed side-project and it's not.

I'd go so far as to say that the album is all good though only three or so songs close in on being great.
I dislike PATD, and my initial reaction when I heard that was the same as yours, I had a WTF moment. lol They should stick to this stle of music.

ReplyDeleteYeah I think they left PATD over "creative difference" and for once that's a good thing.
I like their sound. Beatlesesque is a great compliment, and this tune at least earns it.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to say I'm a supporter of P!ATD AND The Young Veins. They are both brilliant.
