Here's the demo (plus some live tracks) of the heavier ska of Operation Ivy/Rancid's Matt Freeman and Tim Armstrong first band, Basic Radio, from all the way back in 1986. Not perfect but much of the demo sounds pretty decent and is better than this live footage (whose existence is, in and of itself, kinda impressive).
Roots Radicals link is in the comments

i can't wait to hear this. That clip was great. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteRight on! Thanks for this! Honestly didn't know any recordings of the band ever existed. Don't know if you have the Downfall stuff, one of their bands between Op Ivy and Rancid, there's a mediafire link on my page for it. Love your page here, keep em' coming. Also saw you had some Mike Knott stuff on here, I play bass in LSU, we have a new album out called PTSD. I also have a bunch of rare Knott stuff if you're interested let me know.

Patriots...
1) Glad to have pulled a new one out on ya ( I noticed you;d posted a bunch of OP Ivy stuff earlier!)
2) In LSU? That's very cool. I gotta hear the new album, with a new Knott release you never know what you;re gonna get but its always interesting.
If you ever have the opportunity please pass on my Aunt Bettys post to him, I often check with the artist if they're okay with my posting their out-of-print work. And yes, finally, I'd love to hear any rare Knott you'd care to share.
Mike
