Jello Biafre & The Guantanamo School of Medicine

Jello's back and making some of the sickest, creepiest music of his career. For proof here's a scathing live performance (including three Dead Kennedys songs) from a 2009 show in Hamburg.

  2. It's always amazing to see that the only "non-musician" of the DK brings out album after album while the "career musicians" of the DK relive past glory...!

Jello's account of his role in the DK's sometime seems a little one-sided but, as you say, the post-break-up years back it up, he's put out some great music and the other guys have accomplished nil.

  4. That is what i am trying to say - I am not siding with Jello or Ray, but I can see who is who when you compare their musical outputs. Neither Ray's former band Scrapyard nor D.H. Peligro's album on A.T. live up to DK. The only other person of the band, Klaus, has put out some damn good stuff and he had left the post-DK troupe too in 2008.

I should really check out some more of the KF stuff before I blab but from what I have heard it won't top those Jello team-up's with D.O.A., NoMeansNo or even Lard (who I really liked).

  6. Klaus' output was much more the kind of stuff you'd expect from The Residents and the likes - much more experimental.

  7. Don't forget Jello with the Melvins, too! That was brilliant.

  8. Got the album thought it was really good, Jello ranks as one of the best punk front men the two albums with the Melvins r really good.

Jello lost me for a little while with Tumour Circus but he likes to do a lot of different things.

  11. Jeffen: Try and get Melvins' EP EGGNOG - it is by far their best effort.

Tumor Circus had some great stuff like Take Me Back Or I'll Drown Our Dog 12" while the albums' final Turn Off The Respirator was a bit too much for me.

  12. Plus you can only win with a name like Tumor Circus...!

Yeah, the fact that he just picked a name off of his (admittedly hilarious) list of "names for bands" helped make it look a bit like an exercise in noise-for-noise's sake (NTTAWWT).

I always appreciate specific suggestions, so I'll try out those two things you mentioned.

  14. Album is really great. I watched them few weeks ago, they even sound better live, Jello is as potent and fun as ever. Don't miss them if they are anywhere near you.
