Mazes: A Thousand Heys (2011)

So England's Mazes are being lumped in with a media-driven 90's revival alongside bands like Yuck and Male Bonding despite being, to these ears, speedier, catchier and noticeably less beholden to any one of their slacker fore-bearers*. Love it or hate it, let us know what you think in the COMMENTS section.

*That said, they will be going on tour with Sebadoh, who, like Guided By Voices, have always irked me.

As an owner of only one album each by Yuck, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Sebadoh ("Bakesale") and Guided By Voices ("Bee Thousand") I approve of your message about Mazes.

Now, if we could just get the masses to get behind M.O.T.O. in a big, big way...

  2. What a sec.?!--you mean those videos are for TWO different songs? They both sound exactly alike! (Which sort of sums up my feelings for the pop-rock bands of today.)

(What a lack of originality and unique *quirkiness* quotient in the music being made by young bands these days.) --dandor

  3. i'll download and listen, but checking out the videos didn't get me overexcited. the second one i thought was a chad vangaalen knockoff.

'irked by sebadoh'. if you ever have to retitle your blog or name a new pet, there you are.
