(Covers designed by Ian)
You daily of ferociousness is here, beware of an overdose! Here's a live recording of the re-united/re-configured FLAG, Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, Bill Stevenson and guitarist Stephen Egerton, ripping through a set of Black Flag songs. If you want to see what Greg Ginn & co. are up to, here's Black Flag 2013 doing "Rise Above" and "Down in the Dirt".
The sound quality of this bootleg is solid, if a little boxy, as if the mike was real close to the stage.

Let us know what you think of this re-jigged version of Black Flag in the COMMENTS section!
Thanks for sharing this recording. FLAG has rendered Greg Ginn and the word "Black" irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteI'm okay with Ginn's Flag, hell I could dream p a third line-up given a few minutes...
DeleteThe link doesn't seem to be working.

P.S. I sure hope that whoever posts a comment like 'no link!' is the sort of person who would post a 'thanks' when the link is there!
That set list is pretty jaw-dropping. Thanks for the share.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's killer - Keith Morris is sure having a good decade.
DeleteHi
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. 2 days ago I saw Black Flag in Zurich.
Best
Robert
I'd see either version of the band in a heartbeat.
Deleteok its working now...
ReplyDeleteWould it kill you to say 'thanks' or 'glad to have this' or 'cool show'?
Deleteconfusing...was that a one off show or a kind of response to greg ginn's reformed version of black flag ???
ReplyDeletethanks for the show, anyway...
Supposedly they played at Goldenvoice's 30th anniversary show and were so happy they decided to keep it going.
DeleteYeah having two different versions (and neither one is really 'illegitimat' per se) is really confusing.
many thanks its awesome to see the youtube videos of this show as well. your site rules
ReplyDeleteYeah the whole set's there, all broken up!

ReplyDeleteThanks for fixing the link. My neighbors are about to hate me.
ReplyDeletethanks again man. I can't wait to see flag in vegas next weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhile i wouldn't want to attend any of these reunion shows i have to say that this incarnation of FLAG has something going on there. My faith is that someone's gonna take the chance and play some good guitar solos for a change... Heh
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DD
Thanks for putting this up as well as all the great stuff you post man. Looking forward to the Rollins era tunes as I hear Morris pulls off killer. Ran into Dukowski in the Valley and he is just the coolest dude you could meet. Wow, saw Roky's name at the top of the comments. Hope he posts soon at his site. It's a good one. Thanks again and keep up the good work brother!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! BF used to be my favourite band back in the day....then Rollins joined and i got more and more disinterested every tour until they fizzled out.Looks like the heart & soul of the operation is back in the game!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link and posting the video. I am excitedly anticipating seeing Black Flag, with Ginn, 24 May in Dallas. I am torn on the Flag vs. Black Flag dynamic emerging. I always believed Black Flag to be Greg Ginn and whoever he chose to include at the time. For that reasons, I am more intrigued by the prospect of a new Black Flag record as well. I hold no illusions that it will be Damaged Take 2 or a rehash of previous works; in fact, I might even dislike greatly. You'd have to have missed the point of Black Flag entirely to expect something like that from Greg Ginn. Every record was an expansion on the previous release which brings me to my unease with Flag. I love a good reunion show as much as the next guy or gal and I hate to be a killjoy but Flag is like junk food. It is great while you are eating it but afterwards you have damn little to show for it. I would not begrudge any of those guys the right to have a good time with the music or to make a few bucks of revisiting their youthful exertions. Hell, I would likely go to see them anyway. In the full knowledge, however, that it is nothing more than a cover band comprising 5 guys playing the music they enjoy. A harsh judgement, probably, but I think correct and I standby it.
ReplyDeleteWow, Dez's voice sounds terrible on those songs at the end where he sings lead. He sounds like somebody's drunk uncle doing karaoke at a wedding reception.
ReplyDeleteConvertido, if this were Facebook I would "like" your post because it pretty much sums up how I feel about Black Flag vs. Flag.
Thx for the props on the set list pix. if anyone wants to check out my tag-along with flag you can go to:

No problem - thanks for all the cool photos!
Deletei'd definitely go see either line-up in a heartbeat if either of them came through town, although i would definitely be more excited about the Morris line-up because they just look like they have a little something extra for my taste.
