There were a lot of amazing roles that Phillip Seymour Hoffman inhabated but it was his channeling of the late, great Lester Bangs in Almost Famous that endears him to music nerds the world over!
Hi Jeffen, and quite agree - no comments, no enthusiasm, no posting ...
Have you not been getting the WeTransfer emails I have been sending you? You haven't downloaded any of the stuff I've sent - rare Au Pairs, Television, Feelgoods, etc, which I know you'd like ... just a heads-up to check your email as the links only last a week. If you wanted any of these and want to catch up, check floppybootstomp-ii, voodoowagon, darkcircleroom3 and growboredbigscott62, all at blogspot.com.
That's a cool photo of Phillip Hoffman. He never seemed like a very healthy person and I didn't expect him to live into his 90s or anything, but I was so shocked when they announced his sudden death. Immediately I thought of the numerous roles he played in so many movies I love, and of course the Lester Bangs character is among the favorites. I always wondered if he knew about Bangs before taking on the role or if he just did some good research after receiving it. Good to see your blog still around. Cheers!

Re: Re-Ups
MRML does not plan to restore all of the content lost in The Great Mediafire Gutting of 2012. Polite requests may be made in the appropriate section, regular commenters will get priority.
He never played anyone, he WAS. God bless he & his family.
ReplyDeleteGreat scene!

The man had so many sterling moment but this one is my personal fave.
SF Doomed
I gathered that when Crowe asked him to do the role he had already read "Carburetor Dung".
