V.A. Nobody Sings Dylan Like Dylan Volume Thirty

This thirty-THREE (!) volume series features artists covering Bob Dylan songs. All of the tracks are recordings of independent origin (ROIO) and hence officially unreleased.

So as mentioned last time, I came in on Volume 29 but it was Volume 30 that made me decide to get MRML involved with this series. Like Martin from The Simpsons ("Pick me teacher, I'm ever so smart") I wanted to enlighten Jeff when his liner notes said, "I don't know who The Duhks are (or even how their name is pronounced). As he surely knows by NOW, The Duhks (pronounced The Ducks, as a homage to their Disney-proof original name Scruj MacDuhk) are world-folk band led by Leonard Podolok, whose father, Mitch Podolok, founded The Winnipeg Folk Festival. (Yay, for my hometown!) Their fearless re-imagining of "It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Dying) is utterly compelling. (Mini-doc on their cover of the song is here.)

Of course we've got a slew of other compelling artists on this volume like sixties bluegrass masters The Dillards, post-modern loser Beck, indie-darlings Antony and the Johnsons, The Gun Club's Jeffrey Lee Pierce, hard-livin', hard-writin' Texas legend Townes Van Zandt, X's John Doe and The White Stripes' Jack White's other other band, The Dead Weather:
