Here's a good -sounding bootleg that captures The Adverts (more HERE) in all their one-chord-wonderfulness. As the set list below indicates, this 1978 bootleg comes from an intriguing juncture in their history - right between the punkier Crossing the Red Sea and the artier Cast of Thousands. Enjoy!

How many Advert fans are Advert fans because they had a teenage crush on the Joan Jett lookalike?
ReplyDeleteJust a thought... ;)
(yes, I am still trying to understand.)
We do all love Ms. Advert (as does TV!) but it's the songs that compel.
DeleteLove The Adverts. There was a great documentary about them in the recent BBC4 punk'jubilee' season. I parted ways with them after the (brilliant)first album, caught up with TV Smith's Explorers and had forgotten that they'd 'gone prog'with the critically-panned second LP. Any chance of posting the 'Cast of Thousands' album?
ReplyDeleteCoT is still in-print and comes highly recommended. That said, we will have some live boots from that era coming up.
Deletei have the albums, the peel sessions, much live, much tv smith, what else lies out there? if anyone hasn't heard useless the tv smith best of with die toten hosen as his backing band i seriousl;y recommend you check that one out
