"What Kind of Person Waits in Line for Nine Hours to Vote?"

Those ubiquitous Downfall remixes have often been a source of amusement for me. I suppose you could argue that the videos trivialize Hitler or turn a well-made film into a punchline. But the truth is that many of the pieces work so well as examples of post-modernist mash-up culture that juxtapose history, art and, well,  whatever's in the news this month. Strangely, this one marking the end of Mitt Romney's vaulting ambition (sooner or later even my Republican friends may admit that we all dodged a bullet there) is strangely touching, rather than funny. But that's just my take, feel free to let me know what you think...

  1. "feel free to let me know what you think"?

Why? So you can call us names and make smug, abusive remarks about conservatives?

The very fact that someone would even do this with the footage from downfall (and it's been applied in similar ways to many other public figures) shows what a crude society we have become. The very things this not-so-subtle satire accuses Romney and his staff of doing was also done by Obama and his lieutenants.

I've had it with this blog. I don't like the music choices that much anyway and I really don't need to be insulted every time I log on. I'll come back in two years when our money's worthless and see how smug and self-contratulatory you and your sycophants are then. Well, on second thought, that would probably be a waste of time too. No matter how bad things get, the blame will continue to funnel to conservatives, Republicans and anyone who opposes spending us into oblivion.

Have a nice party. I'm leaving.

    1. It's a blog and your free to stop reading any time you want.

      "smug, abusive remarks about conservatives"
I'm sure something's slipped through my filter occasionally but if you read this post, and the majority of the others you'll find little name calling or abusive language.

I did talk about why I thought the Downfall parodies were valid but I am welcome to views to the contrary.

However, denying that Republicans public figured actively worked to suppress voter turnout (they're on record in Ohio and Pennsylvania) seems disingenuous to me. if there Democratic public figured on record about trying to suppress Republican voters I'd like some solid facts about it.

I do hope you will return in two years time (November 16th, 2014!), maybe one of will have softened their views.

P.S. And I ask this seriously; Did you evener leave a comments about the music?

Thank you very much Henry. Good riddance!
The day you realize that voting with your wallet is the wrong way to go, youre welcome back.

  3. Hmm, Henry seems to have taken this seriously, not being an American I thought it was rather amusing, I don't believe all that was said and what was said could be said of many countries not just The Land Of The Free.

    I to am anonymous.

  4. People like YOU should be the ones contemplating the admission of error. BHO is an unqualified, useless, worthless political entity. Your prejudices & bigotry overrode your intellect if you voted for Obama

    1. Who, ME?
Rev, it's time to accept the future. President Obama has established his credential to the American people and your poisonous accusations - unqualified, useless, worthless - seem to show loyalty to party over country.

    2. Please explain how a vote for Obama makes me a bigot. Oh, right, you make the accusations but never answer the questions.

Nice video, jeffen, it's one of the funnier Downfall mixups I've seen.

    3. Rev, is of the opinion that liberals/Obama voters are by definition the biggest bigots in modern society.

No facts are ever offered in support of this incessant assertion and no facts that oppose it are acknowledged.

      Glad you liked the vid!

  5. A lot of conservatives don't quite understand humor and get it wrong when they try their hands at it. This leads to frustration and resentment......
BTW, I'm a believer in the two party system and the concept of a pendulum, but the pendulum's been broken for a while. Perhaps this election got it moving again.

  6. This has nothing to do with politics, but I'm fascinated just how flexible that Downfall clip is, and wait for new ones with great delight.

    1. Yeah I thought the clip would be overdone quickly but it just seems to find new uses. As I said with this one, I find it more poignant than hilarious which is attests to the power of the acting.

  7. Q. What kind of person waits in line six months for a CT scan and is granted permission by the panel right before his funeral?

    A: An Obama voter.

    2. Turn off your reality-dampening field, Alan. Prior to the Affordable Health Care act, insurance companies could and did deny CT scan claims under "pre-existing conditions" clauses, among other reasons.

Insurance companies are the real death panels.

That sentence needs needs to be read by every American.

    4. Oh my gosh! This is hilarious! You guys are killing me!

Even an idiot can tell you that when you only have ONE insurance company to choose from that...oh why waste my breath. You'll understand when your number comes up, or should I say, when you are told, "Take a number and sit down" by some indifferent bureaucrat.

Keep it up guys! This is too funny!

  8. Well 'a-wop bop-a loo-mop, a-lop bam-boom!', here comes Little Richard to Keep on-a Knockin us down.
I'm not sure what's funny about THIRTY MILLION people having access to health care including those those with pre-exsisting conditions who weren't previously given a number or a seat but just directions to the door by some indifferent insurance agent.

Rip it Up and start again, LR!

P.S. Tell me were you sent here by 'Alan Freed' or are you the same person?

I'm guessing these trolls are taking on fifties-rock user names in tribute to YOU!

    Should've thought of that earlier!

    1. Looks like those Republican types forgot that Alan Freed was the Father Of Payola, and Little Richard's a little.... different, if you catch my drift.
