This is Doug & The Slugs final release, which seeks to re-capture the wordier, rawer nature of their earliest work but in 1992 there wasn't much call for good-time, smart-alecky pop songs, least of all in the in the Pacific Northwest.
Believe it or not MRML has posted EVERY (out-of-print) Doug & The Slugs albums and you can find them here!

ReplyDeleteThanks a million! I've been hooked on Doug & The Slugs since 1980. I have the tape and LP of Cognac & Bologna and Slugology (CD) but have been unable to get the remaining CDs. I do have a question: My computre is unable to play some tracks from Terminal City. Can you repost the tracks? Thanks, Charley.
ReplyDeleteCharley
ReplyDeleteHmmm I tried d/l it and opening it and it seemed to work. I don't want to u/l it again without fixing the problem.
Doug
did your second d/l work?
Hello Jeffen,
ReplyDeleteI downloaded the file three times and the same three tracks (3, 9, 10) aren't recognised by either iTunes or Windows Media Player.
Thanks,
Charley
Sorry Jeffen,
ReplyDeleteTracks are 6, 9, & 10.
Charley
Hey Jeffen
ReplyDeleteYou helped to spread the word about Doug and the Slugs and Art Bergmann.Another Vancouver favourite of moi was Ray Condo. The Hardrock Goners albums seem OOP or never available on CD.I have to do a little more research.
Ray Condo RIP
Doug
Doug
ReplyDeleteI only really know Ray's stuff from the ICFC series.
However since you are in the research phase you are clearly ready for your first guest post.
It'd be an awesome addition to the blog.
Hey Jeffen
ReplyDeleteI did find a few of Ray Condo and His Hardrocker Goners albums in cyberspace. Both are available readily as either CDs or downloads(amazon, itunes). His first two albums don't seem to available to buy and I couldn't see them in cyberspace presently.I will keep looking.
Ray Condo and the Ricochets albums are available as CDs.I have two on order and will buy the third.
I also just ordered Ray Condo and His Hardrock Goners 'Top Hits! Party Favourites!' direct from Crow-Matic(Victoria,BC).

Presently do not see anything appropriate for your blog.Keeping everything legal.
Amazon links:

Actually it is great to see most of Ray Condo's albums still available.Of course,Ray was even better live!
Cheers
Doug
PS A post without links?Folks should buy these albums anyways.
Hey Jeffen
ReplyDeleteOne further comment. The albums 'Crazy Date'(1986) and 'Hot 'n' Cold'(1988/89) are OOP and never released on CD.I do remember seeing a vinyl rip of 'Crazy Date' a few years ago.
Doug
Doug
ReplyDeleteI found 'Hot 'n' Cold' with a nice cover scan.
We've got material for a post...
Hey Jeffen

Peter Sandmark is also known as Slim Sandy.Country swing music. You're regulars would probably hate this!

Hey Jeffen
ReplyDeleteMore Vancouver and Winnipeg ... Herald Nix and Jeffrey Hatcher.
Have you seen the following in cyberspace?
Herald Nix 'One Night Only'(1985)
Herald Nix 'The Fugitive Kind'(1986)
and anything by Jeffrey Hatcher?
The Fuse,The Six or The Big Beat.Jeffrey Hatcher and the Big Beat released an LP 'Cross Our Hearts' in 1986 or 1987.The Fuse and The Six released EPs.All vinyl stuff.
I did buy a compilation of unreleased Jeffrey Hatcher stuff as a mp3 download via cdbaby.
No Depression did a long piece on Jeffrey Hatcher in a bookazine a few years ago.
Vancouver's Wendy Bird released an album of Jeffrey Hatcher covers earlier this year.I just ordered the CD yesterday.
Ray Condo,Blue Northern,The Blue Shadows,Herald Nix,Hans Stamer,Lindsay Mitchell etc reminds me of many great shows at the Fairview Pub on Broadway back in the day.

ReplyDeleteI've got 'Hot n Cod' and 'Crazy Date' ready to go but since I don;t have a lot to say about eithe of them, I'd love a quick write up on the albums from you.
You can e-mail me at jeffen69@hotmail.com
Let me know because without your help they may never get posted!
Doug
ReplyDeleteI've been searching for that Jeffrey Hatcher to give it a listen. (I'm loathe to buy MP3's) because I've heard the early stuff is great (though I'm sure in my dotage I'd enjoy the 80's albums more now).
(And that ND article was great - well deserved).
