For the top ten scenes from the movie, Dance Craze, come visit THE BIG TAKEOVER!
Whatever form of vanity keeps Dance Craze, this seminal document that so effectively lays out the case for the genius of the residents of the House of 2-Tone, out-of-print on CD, DVD, Blu-Ray and VMC* is an abomination. With Bad Manners, The Bodysnatchers, English Beat, Madness, The Selecter and The Specials the film-makers effectively covered all the key players of the 2-Tone era, even ones who only briefly dallied with the label.

This is the 15 track L.P. version that spread the steady, steady sounds of ska (click on image for track listing).
And there may be more to come - but that depends on your COMMENTS, readers!
MRML's gone on a bit of a Ska Craze of late, so go hear more of The English Beat here, The Specials here, The Selecter here, Madness here and...
Speaking of which the Dance Craze (L.P. rip) link is in the comments.

ReplyDeleteI was about to comment that I bought this record for a very good friend of mine, but I seriously suspect that the last commenter IS the good friend that I bought this record for.

What a fine moment of synchronicity!
Can't say that i dig Ska much and i always thought it's a sin to mix ska with hardcore punk rock but this compilation is so great, i even purchased the dvd off it. Just a seminal effort - good job, as usual Jeffen!

ReplyDeleteThe two things we love here at MRML are getting people to re-appraise music and buy the stuff - so you've just made all our work feel worthwhile!
Thanks!
