Well, I can at least say I was on vacation last week! Don't know what the excuse of others is.
I see "Power Pearls" and I remember a collection by that name. I can't remember if I d/l-ed it before, and my "filing" system is close to worthless. So, I'll check out the track listings and decide if this sounds like new stuff.
Funny thing is that I was on vacation as well and thought I'd leave behind a treats for my loyal readers, like yourself. Thanks for all the good words!
I wonder (again) if Google Reader is partly responsible for some of this... I've noticed that you can scroll through blogs in Google Reader, and click on links, but the line for "comments" at the bottom of every post doesn't show up on the Google Reader screen... gives people less of an incentive. (And I'm still not sure if people who just scroll through Google Reader show up as a 'visit', either.)
Know it must be irritating to pore so much heart and soul into a wonderful blog like this and get few or no comments. I'm guilty of enjoying the fruits of your labor of love and not thaking you. I know it's no consolation, but I appreciate and admire what you do even when I don't comment. Will try to comment more often. THANK YOU!
Thoroughly enjoying the Power Pearls series, and yes, per your header banner, you are ruining my time! ...but thank you so much for doing so! Please do keep 'em coming!
Now, if there's anything I can relate to, it's a blogger who's a little disgruntled (disappointed) in the lack of feedback. I used to think the majority of visitors were just selfish, parasitic morons - but maybe I was wrong about some of them (based on the comments above.) Still, it's hard to figure out people who continuously want to take without giving something as painless as a comment in return (especially when the blogger has let his readers know that even brief reactions are appreciated.) I find the growing 'raid/pillage' mentality very disturbing.
If you're anything like me, you're not looking for thanks - just the thrill of knowing that the music you've posted has grabbed people - THAT is so motivating! Makes me want to get to work right away on the next post. (Having said that, if the majority of your readers don't respect you enough to respond to your modest request --- I'd pack it in or start a private blog and invite the good guys!
"If you're anything like me, you're not looking for thanks - just the thrill of knowing that the music you've posted has grabbed people." If 'thanks' (or 'merci' or 'danke schoen' is all people can think to say then that's just great but I do agree that it's stirring thoughts in people which I'm most interested in.
I checked the listings and I am 90% sure that I downloaded at least these volumes of Power Pearls originally, but given my "filing" "system" I think I will have to do it again.
By the way to any who are hesitant, these are great collections. You might not love every single one of them, but you definitely will find some old friends and some new tracks that you will wish you had been hearing for years.
MRML is a blog about the devestating effects of culture: music, politics, comics plus etc. blah blah blah. At times MRML will post fine, unpurchasable three-chord obscurica (punk, pop-punk, new wave, mod, power-pop, gospel, reggae, hardcore, rockabilly, folk, country...whatever.) - - - - - - "The otherwise unavailable files in this blog are posted for a limited time and are intended for educational, non-commercial use. Re: Re-Ups
MRML does not plan to restore all of the content lost in The Great Mediafire Gutting of 2012. Polite requests may be made in the appropriate section, regular commenters will get priority.

Powerpearls have been pretty tasty — I hope you'll continue the series.
ReplyDeleteGuilty as charged — I'm thrilled to be exposed to new music, but don't take the time to add to the comments or the discussion. I'll step it up.
Right on

ReplyDeleteYeah I'm sure out GR subscribers don't count but they do still have to visit the blog to get to the D/L (which is in the comments section.
