Hugh Cornwell: Wolf (1988)

Up to $100.00 on Amazon to hear how Hugh Cornwell (more here) sounded in the late eighties.

The single, "Another Kind of Love" isn't so bad really, considering its time of origin. Plus the video, made by Jan Svankmajer the designer of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" video, is quite charming. It certainly isn't to everyone's tastes but what here is?

Don't you miss the luxurious and resplendent artwork that used to accompany (and amplify) an album back in the LP era?

What do you make of Hugh Cornwell's Wolf? Let us know in the comments?

Speaking of comments, that is the section wherein you will find the Wolf link.

  5. "Another Kind Of Love" makes me nostalgic. Yes, I'm sure my 1988 self would have dismissed it outright as crap but, hearing it a good twenty plus years after the fact, just makes me miss some of the simplicity of my youth.

I've got a surprise coming for you (hint: not stranglers related).

Even I didn't know it would last that long.

I know what you mean, as much as the tin hollowness of the eighties still grates, it now also evoke a powerful nostalgia.

  7. Hi there... sorry I am late to the party. Disovered your blog through CaptainCrawl. Thank you so much for all the Stranglers stuff.
As for the "Wolf", what a disappointment. There was so much good stuff that Hugh did with the Stranglers, and then to leave because he felt they were out of new ideas and put out the crap that he did since (obviously Wolf is during his Stranglers days).... it just blows my mind.

  9. i think wolf was a brilliant album. i used to play it all the time in the late 80s. catchy with an edge...just like the stranglers but more modern.
